Ellery vs. DIY from my Mum’s old pullover. Just close the neckline with some stitches, tighten to your waist and you’re done! (Ellery image via Outsapop).

One chilly week after

Still remember the sunflower field (babies and all grown)? The news said that we get snow this early once in a decade. I will fight the winter with these preloved felt trousers, at least when I’m home. Or working as a part-time pirate. Or a horseman… But don’t they resemble the harem pants style as well? My point is that sometimes you just need new eyes to DIY trashion.

Oopsie. First came my new job, then the winter. Days are shorter. They really are after driving to work and back, so my blog was the first and hopefully the last casualty. The waited invitation to Wardrobe Re-fashion was overlooked as well. Here’s some bandaid to the wound. The photo was taken just before my new work and before snow. Star-shaped reflectors are hand sewn. I try to prepare for winter with two jackets on rather than buying new.

Patch me if you can

Jokapoika is one of Marimekko’s classics and still in production. Vuokko Nurmesniemi designed it 1956. I think this is from the 70’s and my Mum patched it for me years ago with another Piccolo piece. (Piccolo is the name of the print). I love how the cotton has worn thin and silky soft. Unfortunately there’s another rip near the collar. And I don’t know how to fix it yet.
